Welcome to the conference website for the 2nd Applied Positive Psychology Conference: Creating Flourishing Communities.

If you want to learn more about the applications of positive psychology in work, education and the wider community, this is the event for you. Delegates from all over the world will come together to share their experiences, explore new research and applications, and build friendships and connections to enrich them long into the future.

Held at the University of Warwick, Coventry, UK, from 1-3 April 2009, the 2nd Applied Positive Psychology Conference will showcase developments and advances in the field, bringing together practitioners, researchers and policy makers from the fields of work, education, and social change to advance our understanding of how we can all play our part, large or small, in Creating Flourishing Communities.

Whether as a psychologist, HR professional, coach, educator, researcher, community worker, policy maker - or just you as you are! - the 2nd Applied Positive Psychology Conference will give you unique and exclusive opportunities to learn about developments in the field of positive psychology, and how those developments are being applied to enable better lives for all, through Creating Flourishing Communities.

Eight Keynote addresses will be delivered throughout the conference by international authorities in their field, as part of a conference programme that also includes paper presentations, workshops and symposia. Delegates will also be able to enjoy a wide variety of other conference activities, including:

  • The conference dinner on the evening of Wednesday 1 April, with David Robinson, OBE, Co-founder of Community Links delivering the after-dinner address;

  • An exclusive screening of Beyond the Call by award-winning film director, Adrian Belic, which has won 37 Best Film Awards (and counting), on the evening of Thursday 2 April;

  • Strengths caricatures, drawn by our strengths caricaturists in attendance, with proceeds going to our charity, The Strengths Project;

  • Avirupa Bhaduri and Micky Sensharma will share their experiences of working with CAPP and The Strengths Project, supporting slum communities in Kolkata, India, through enabling slum dwellers to realise their individual and communal strengths as a means to improving their life circumstances;

  • Robert Biswas-Diener, CAPP's Programme Director for Education and Learning, hosting a reception for current and prospective students of our Flexible Learning programmes.

Whatever your background, and whatever your interests, if you want to play your part in Creating Flourishing Communities, whether at work, in education, or throughout your wider community, we look forward to welcoming you to the 2nd Applied Positive Psychology Conference. Join us!
