Welcome to CAPP Flexible Learning
The Centre for Applied Positive Psychology is pleased to
announce the launch of our new Flexible Learning programme! The

psychology even easier. In partnership with leading researchers and

Please read on, click here to register,
or select the links below for further information.
Who is Flexible Learning for?
While Flexible Learning courses are appropriate for anyone
interested in learning about positive psychology, our emphasis on application
makes these courses especially suitable for a wide range of professionals.
Courses are developed with professional needs in mind and provide not only
in-depth content but easy-to-understand instructions for implementing this
cutting-edge science at work.
How does it work?
When you register for a Flexible Learning course you will
receive a course manual written by a leading expert in the field of your
interest. This will serve as your guide through the duration of the course,
providing content information, suggested exercises, links to Internet
resources, thought-provoking reflections, comprehensive references, and
practical applications. You will also be assigned a text book to supplement
your learning.
CAPP Flexible Learning will offer 4 week, 6 week and 12 week
courses for you to choose from. Each
course is flexible and supported. You will pace your own learning across the
duration of your course, according to your unique needs and schedule. Each
course is supported by a tutor who is an expert in the topics and will be
available to provide feedback, answer questions, and help you translate
positive psychology into practical steps to use at work.
Courses available:
Flexible Learning courses include:
-
-
Positive Motivation;
an in-depth guide to goals, autonomy, values, and other aspects of motivating
others in a positive way, written by Prof. Kennon Sheldon, University of
Missouri.

Over the coming months, Flexible Learning will be expanding
its suite of courses with Positive Psychotherapy: How to apply the new
science of happiness in clinical, counselling and consultation, by
Dr. Tayyab Rashid, Celebrating Strengths in Schools, by Jenny
Fox Eades, and Realising Strengths, by Professor Alex Linley,
with more to follow!
Notional Learning Hours
Each current Flexible Learning course is designed to be
either, 4, 6 or 12 weeks long, with a new topic covered each week. We assume
that, across the weeks of the course, you will attain a set amount of learning.
-
For 4 week courses, this is 32 notional hours of learning.
-
For 6 week courses, this is 50 notional hours of learning.
-
For 12 week courses, this is 100 notional hours of learning.
That is, between readings, exercises, reflections, and other
activities you will complete the amount of actual learning time specified
above.
Learning Logs and Course Assessment
As you work through your course, completing the various
exercises that are included each week, you will be completing your course
Learning Log - almost effortlessly!
There are also two formal course assignments for each course,
both of which are aimed at giving you an opportunity to exhibit your learning.
Pass grades on both will be required to receive credit in your course.
A Flexible Learning tutor is available by internet should you
need support.

Flexible Learning FAQs
For whom are these courses
intended?
CAPP Flexible Learning courses are intended for a broad
range of professionals and people interested in the science and application of
positive psychology. Each course uses examples drawn from education, academia,
counseling, coaching, consulting, and other disciplines. The course material is
easy to understand for non-psychologists and the practical suggestions are
broadly applicable.
Would it be possible to
have more details on what will be covered?
CAPP Flexible Learning courses are developed with both
increasing expertise and practical application in mind. Each course covers a
wide range of cutting-edge research from areas in positive psychology, and
presents major findings clearly. In addition, every course contains experiential
activities in the form of thought-provoking reflections, exercises, and
suggestions for using research results at work. Graduates of each course will be
equipped-where appropriate-- with specific measures, intervention tools, useful
models and theories, and a strong command of the latest research in their field
of study. Course descriptions for particular courses are provided above.
Is there a registration
deadline for courses?
Flexible Learning is flexible! Registration is on an
on-going basis, so that you can register for courses at the time that's right
for you. Once you have registered, the courses run for a specified period of 4
weeks, 6 weeks or 12 weeks.
How much tutor support is
available and how quickly will I get a reply?
Tutors are available online to answer questions related to
course material. Tutors make every effort to respond quickly, and you can expect
answers to your queries within one week at the maximum.
Are the courses intended
to lead to a qualification, such as a certificate?
CAPP is developing a Certificate in Positive Psychology
program, and these Flexible Learning courses will count toward certificate
credit. We will update you soon with more information as soon as this is
available.
Are the courses
accredited by any academic body?
People earning
certificates of completion in any individual Flexible Learning course will earn
the notional learning hours indicated for each course, and will be provided with
a certificate of completion indicating that they have earned these learning
hours. This certificate can be used to support Continuing Professional
Development (CPD) or Continuing Education (CE) activity.
Can I register for more than one
course?
You may register for more than one course at
a time. We recommend that people who are relatively new to positive psychology
take the Invitation to Positive Psychology course. You are, however,
welcome to take any course you find interesting, useful, and relevant to your
needs.
I live outside the
UK. How can I register using a
foreign currency?
If you are outside
the UK, you can easily register for Flexible Learning through the credit / debit
card option provided by PayPal. This will make payment to CAPP in £ sterling,
but you credit / debit card will be charged in your local currency. If you do
not have a credit / debit card, you can make payment by international bank
transfer. Please contact Clare Gregory on capp@cappeu.org for
details.
Are there any discounts for group
registrations?
For organisations interested in multiple
registrations of 10 people or more, a group discount can be arranged. Please
contact Clare Gregory on capp@cappeu.org
for more information.
