Martin Stairs
With over 15 years work experience, including 8 years as a business consultant, Martin is a Chartered Psychologist and specialist in occupational assessment, employee development and retention. In 2005, having worked in a variety of roles, Martin established his own consultancy practice specialising in strengths based approaches to selection, leadership development, and employee engagement.

Martin has worked extensively with public sector clients, government departments and leading blue-chip organisations across the UK and Europe, as well as internationally in Asia, the US and Australia. In a previous role he was part of the Management Team with Pearn Kandola, where his major clients were BP, 3i, Ernst & Young, PwC, Standard Life, KPMG, NATS, and Sara Lee|DE. Martin’s experience extends across a broad client base including clients in the automotive, banking and financial services, consumer goods, energy, insurance, pharmaceuticals, professional services, IT and telecoms, and transport sectors.

Throughout his career he has led the design and delivery of numerous assignments, including job analysis and competency development work, the design and delivery of assessment and leadership development events, and employee audit and evaluation processes. He is an experienced assessor, coach, facilitator, and trainer. Through his international experience he has gained a significant understanding of the field of cross-cultural assessment and diversity issues. In a previous role he played a major role leading the design and development of bespoke technology initiatives including 360° feedback, Computer Based Training, and assessment simulation tools.

Martin holds a Masters degree in Occupational Psychology from the University of Nottingham, as well as first degrees in Psychology and Physics. He is a qualified teacher and previously worked in the NHS and with a children’s charity dedicated to providing care, education and therapy to traumatised children and young people.

Martin is a Chartered Psychologist and member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) as well as an Affiliate Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).
