Foundation and Primary Stage (ages 3-11)
For the foundation and primary stages, CAPP offers
Celebrating Strengths, a tried, tested and unique
approach to building and maintaining a strengths-based
school.
Celebrating Strengths does not ‘teach’ positive
psychology as an additional subject but weaves it into
the existing curriculum and life of the school. It
enhances, develops and celebrates the existing strengths
of the school, its staff and its pupils – and helps
everyone to flourish, to be people at their best.
Celebrating Strengths uses two ancient teaching methods
– community festivals and oral story telling – and by
making links between these techniques and the latest
research from positive psychology it ensures that
changes are deep seated and long lasting.
Schools can choose from a variety of training days
delivered to staff in your own school. In addition, they
can book modelling days where a CAPP advisor will come
into school to work with the children and model story
telling and associated strength building tools, called
Strengths Builders. Modelling days are followed up by
coaching days when the advisor returns to observe the
tools in use and to offer strengths-based coaching for
all staff.
