Secondary Stage (ages 11-18)
Staff training days: All the days provide a mixture of
theory and practice and aim to build on and develop
existing strengths.
1. Positive psychology in the secondary school
An introduction to the concepts of strengths and
positive psychology and a team building day for all
members of staff
2. Building strengths into the curriculum and
life of the school
A more detailed look at strengths and how to build a
strengths-based curriculum and school. Staff may wish to
have done the VIA strengths test prior to the day.
3. Practical tools for applying positive
psychology in school
A day for looking in detail at some practical tools for
encouraging optimal functioning and at the theory that
lies behind them.
4. Motivation – creating the conditions that
foster responsibility and a life-long love of learning
A day for looking at the latest research on what
motivates adults and children
5. Strengths-based Careers Preparation - For 16
-18 year olds
CAPP offers a unique service to pupils aged 16 – 18.
These in depth telephone interviews with fully trained
coaches are designed to give students added insight into
their strengths. They provide invaluable preparation for
making informed choices about subjects/university/work
and for personal statements or university interviews.
