About CAPP

What is CAPP?

The Centre for Applied Positive Psychology is the world’s only independent membership organisation, dedicated to advancing and disseminating positive psychology research, and to developing and promoting its applications.

Our work is research-led. Our empirical research and theory development is published in internationally recognised journals and other media.

More about CAPP research and publication

We are supported in our endeavors by a 40-member International Advisory Board, including leading academics and practitioners in positive psychology and its applications from around the world.

Members of the CAPP team consistently promote and disseminate the applications of positive psychology through publishing and speaking throughout the UK, Europe, India, and the United States.

More about CAPP presentations….

Our flagship event is the biannual Applied Positive Psychology Conference; the first held at the University of Warwick in April 2007.

As a membership organisation, we inform, educate and connect people with interests in positive psychology and its applications.

Through our work, we build strengths-based organisations and schools. CAPP its self is explicitly a strengths-based organisation.

More about CAPP as a Strengths-based Organisation...

We work with a diverse range of clients, whom we provide strategic and intellectual partnering.

We also provide pro bono support to our Charity Partners, HOPEHIV, who are building a Generation of Hope for children orphaned by AIDS in Africa. We support them both through intellectual input to their programmes, and through direct fundraising initiatives.

More about HOPEHIV...

For us, strengths-based organisation is an everyday reality, giving us practical experience and genuine insight into the benefits and challenges that this way of working presents. We push ourselves constantly to go beyond what is known, to extend our thought and applications leadership, and to make a positive impact on society.

Who we Are

Prof. Alex Linley is the founder and Director of the Centre for Applied Positive Psychology. The CAPP team includes:

Robert Biswas-Diener
Jenny Fox Eades
Reena Govindji

Janet Willars

Our work is supported by CAPP Associates, the Membership Committee  and International Advisory Board.

We would also like to acknowledge the work of our Founding Associates and Membership Working Group who  supported CAPP during our early establishment, but have now completed their work with us.

How we Work

Our mission is Strengthening the World, which we achieve through working with our clients, members, employees and wider stakeholders.

With Our Clients
At CAPP we work with our clients through our guiding principles of:
• Innovate and Evaluate
• Authentic Partnerships and Mutuality
• Connecting People and Ideas
• Research into Practice
• Capacity and Capability Building

With CAPP Community
Through CAPP Community, we create communities and networks across the world where people can learn and share their experiences of positive psychology, and in particular, what it means to identify, realise and use their strengths.

With Our Employees
We seek to nurture the strengths of all who work with us. We do this by aligning work to people’s individual strengths, creating stretching opportunities, and providing coaching, mentoring and team development to enable people to deliver performance that exceeds their expectations.

We conduct face-to-face 360’s on a regular basis, as a way of ensuring that continuous and timely feedback, both positive and developmental, is given to the team members in an appropriate and supportive environment.
